Hey Y’all, my name is Alexis Hayes, but you will come to know me as Chef Lexi. Food has been common ground in my family as long as I can remember, thanks in majority to my grandfather AKA my Poppy. Being born in the south, Dallas, Texas to be exact, and raised in Atlanta, GA, so you could say that soul food is literally in my DNA.
Being exposed to multiple cultures while living in different environments especially the melting pot which is ATL, I have had the opportunity to have some amazing meals but none of them brought me the feeling that I felt when I walked into my Grandparents home and the aroma invaded literally every sense (excuse me while I have a sit with this flashback). This place was also a training ground for, stirring the pots, being the taste tester, being the human timer. This sparked my interest in food which has carried me to the point I am at today. Unfortunately, my grandfather is no longer with us physically. I feel it is my responsibility to continue in his footsteps and give people the experience and love that he so effortlessly gave to anyone who was hungry; therefore 1017 Cuisine had to be birth and especially at a time like the one we find ourselves in today as a nation.
We take pride in the joy my food brings for any occasion. I’m food safe certified and I specialize in intimate events from at-home date nights to cocktail hours, weddings, birthdays, and more. I’ve always loved making people laugh and smile and I take pride in the fact that my food does just that.
